As we head into Week 5 of the College Football season, I will use my thorough knowledge of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers to bring you insightful, but more importantly, profitable information on CCU’s current contest. We will dive into the analysis and to maximize our return on investment, we will be utilizing Doc’s trusted “Unit Betting System.”

The Chanticleers head into Saturday’s matchup with a 2-2 record after dropping a dud last week against Georgia State. The Chants never found their footing and trailed in the contest from the beginning of the game. Georgia State had a 17-3 lead at halftime after Coastal’s defense allowed a pair of 75-yard drives and a field goal right before the break. The Panthers were up 27-10 in the fourth quarter when their punter fumbled the snap and Abraham Temoney scooped up the loose ball and stepped two yards into the endzone to cut the deficit to 10 with seven minutes remaining in the game. Following an attempted onside kick, Georgia State would chew up most of the clock before settling for a field goal. The Panthers would defeat the Chanticleers 30-17. Grayson McCall was 26-of-42 for 295 yards and a touchdown for CCU.

The Chanticleers are underdogs, but by less than a touchdown (+6.5), against the Eagles this week, with an over/under of 66.5. McCall leads the way for the Chants, throwing for 1,003 yards (250.8 ypg), completing 66.7% of his passes while throwing for five touchdowns and two interceptions through four games. Running back Braydon Bennett leads the team in rushing with 131 yards on 34 carries, with two touchdowns. Jared Brown has made the most of his opportunities and is a wild card to watch out for on a weekly basis. He has tallied 95 rushing yards on only five carries, while also catching 20 passes for 208 yards. He also has one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown. Sam Pinckney leads all the Chanticleers wide receivers with 311 yards on 21 receptions with two touchdowns.

In their most recent game, the Georgia Southern Eagles won 40-3 over the Ball State Cardinals. Quarterback Davis Brin has put up 1,289 yards through the air, while completing 72.5% of his passes, with nine touchdowns and seven interceptions. OJ Arnold leads the Eagles’ rush attack with a team-high 256 rushing yards and has found paydirt three times. He also has seven receptions out of the backfield for 64 yards. The Eagles have a trio of receivers that can change the game in a hurry. Derwin Burgess Jr. leads the team with 310 yards on 29 receptions, while also hauling in two touchdowns. Khaleb Hood is second on the team with 283 yards and two scores, while Dalen Cobb is averaging 40.3 yards per game, with 15 catches for 161 yards.

So far this season, only one of Georgia Southern’s games has gone over 66.5 points. The under has cashed in three out of the four Coastal Carolina contests so far into the 2023 season. The Chanticleers are also 3-1 against the spread. I am leaning more on the under in this one. The Chanticleers offense has not been up to par this season and looks flat. Both teams will try to establish the run, and the receivers run a ton of short to intermediate routes. Coastal Carolina +6.5 is another solid play. Look for the Chanticleers to be more focused and sharper out of the gate. Coastal will win outright and cover the spread in a high 20s, low 30s affair.

Prediction: CCU 31 – Georgia State 28
