After starting the season with a 3-2 record, many have written off LSU’s postseason chances. But a win in Tuscaloosa on Saturday would put the Tigers firmly in the mix for the SEC Championship and present a case for them to make the College Football Playoff.

The Crimson Tide hold a 55-27-5 record all-time vs. LSU, and fans have been treated to spectacular matchups in past seasons. Since 2019, three of four Alabama vs. LSU games have been decided by one possession, and each team has won twice.

Each team is coming off a bye, meaning we’ll see each team as prepared and healthy as possible for another classic LSU vs. Alabama showdown.

An injured Quinn Ewers watched from the sideline in Week 9 when Texas dismantled BYU 35-6. Maalik Murphy did enough in his first career start, throwing for 170 yards, two touchdowns, and one pick, but the Longhorns’ rushers stole the show with 184 yards and two scores.

Texas’ defense was also hitting on all cylinders, allowing under 300 yards and forcing three turnovers. Each unit of a football team typically adds extra effort when a star player like Ewers is out with an injury, and that was certainly the case for the Longhorns.

Another strong showing from top to bottom is required from Texas this Saturday vs. a Kansas State team that has found its mojo. The Wildcats aim to win a fourth consecutive game and have won the last three by an average of 32 points.

In its first game without Brock Bowers, Georgia steamrolled Florida 43-20 in Jacksonville. The Carson Beck-Ladd McConkey connection was strong, as McConkey finished with six catches for 135 yards and a score.

The Bulldogs benefited from finding their footing without Bowers vs. an inferior opponent but have a more stern test waiting in Week 10.

Missouri’s 7-1 record is one of the biggest surprises of the college football season, and the Tigers are a legitimate threat to upset the Bulldogs. Mizzou wasn’t nearly as good in 2022 and held a 10-point lead over UGA in the fourth quarter before the Dawgs stormed back to win 26-22.

Georgia’s impenetrable defense will be tested vs. a Mizzou offense averaging 33 points per game. QB Brady Cook, RB Cody Schrader, and WR Luther Burden each rank top three in yardage in the SEC at their respective positions.

Washington notched arguably the most impressive victory of the season when the Huskies beat No. 8 Oregon, but they haven’t looked quite as dominant in the two games since. Washington had by far its lowest scoring output of the year in a 15-7 Week 8 win vs. Arizona State and bested 2-6 Stanford 42-33 in Week 9.

The close games can partially be blamed on a rib injury sustained by Michael Penix late in the Huskies’ defeat of Oregon. But Washington must snap out of it quickly, as matchups with No. 24 USC, No. 18 Utah, and No. 16 Oregon State are on the horizon.

USC snapped its two-game losing skid with a one-point win over Cal that saw Caleb Williams throw for 369 yards and two touchdowns. The Trojans’ Swiss cheese defense continues to struggle after surrendering 49 points to the Golden Bears.

If you enjoy shootouts, this is the matchup for you. Washington and USC boast top-nine scoring offenses, combining for 85 points per game.

The Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State rivalry is known as Bedlam, and for good reason. The Sooners and Cowboys seem to always face off in high-scoring games, and Oklahoma has had Oklahoma State’s number recently, winning seven of the last eight matchups.

This year’s Bedlam brings extra intrigue considering the game will seemingly be put on ice for the foreseeable future due to the Sooners’ move to the SEC in 2024. Plus, Oklahoma has College Football Playoff aspirations and is fresh off an upset loss to Kansas.

Home-field advantage will be crucial for an Oklahoma State squad looking to spoil Oklahoma’s season. With its win total set at six, expectations were low for the Cowboys in 2023. After starting 2-2, Oklahoma has rattled off four-straight wins and has an excellent opportunity to see its rival suffer upsets in back-to-back weeks.
