College Football Week Six Top Game Predictions

We are back with a great slate this weekend. Some rivalries, some playoff implications, and some team’s potentially on upset alert. So let’s get into the previews.

(20) Kentucky @ (1) Georgia

Georgia pulled out a come from behind victory last week in Jordan Hare, but can they keep the winning streak dating back over a year going? Kentucky comes off a dominant performance against Florida, where they ran the ball at will, with lead back Ray Davis gashing the Gators with 280 yards on the ground. There is no chance they will be able to abuse Georgia in the trenches like that, so they’ll have to rely on transfer quarterback Devin Leary to have a coming out party to win this game. Unfortunately for them, I cannot pick a team going into Athens who will have to break away from their main identity to win the game.

Prediction: Georgia 31 Kentucky 13

(10) Notre Dame @ (25) Louisville

Notre Dame has played back to back games that have been decided in the final minute of play, and they will roll into Louisville for their third straight night game. Both teams have gotten great play from their quarterbacks this season, but I’m not expecting a shootout in this one. I’m expecting a third close game in a row for Notre Dame, a true test of their mental strength in this very tough stretch of games. If Notre Dame wins this game, they’re firmly back in the playoff conversation just a week before their date with Caleb Williams and USC. This will be a game decided in the fourth quarter, and I believe Notre Dame will come out on top, riding their breakout tight end Mitchell Evans all the way to the end.

Prediction: Notre Dame 24 Louisville 20

(12) Oklahoma vs (3) Texas

The Red River Rivalry is renewed with as high of stakes as I can remember, major playoff implications involved, and possibly the first of two matchups between these teams this year. Texas has already gone into Tuscaloosa and taken down the Crimson Tide, but Oklahoma needs this win to bolster their resume, as they play a pretty weak schedule the remainder of the year. If Oklahoma wants to win this game, they will have to start scoring early and often, to put Texas on their heels. If Texas can shut down the Sooners, they will coast to victory, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. The country is overlooking the Sooners in the second year under Brent Venables, and they’ll put everyone on notice with a big win on Saturday.

Prediction: Oklahoma 41 Texas 30
