Colorado State vs. Colorado Week 3 odds, props: Deion Sanders' Buffaloes see season win total nearly double at sportsbooks

The hiring of Deion Sanders as head coach has been an unqualified success for the University of Colorado program and for the sport of college football overall, as the 2-0 Buffaloes are the story of the early season and have brought massive TV ratings. Sportsbooks, though, have taken an absolute bath on Colorado in the first two games and already are course correcting. Colorado's season win total had been set over/under 3.5 at DraftKings and is now 6.5 ahead of this week's home game vs. Colorado State.

After upsetting No. 17 TCU 45-42 in the opener, Coach Prime made his Boulder debut this past Saturday and the stadium was rocking in a 36-14 win over former Big 12 rival Nebraska. It was Colorado's largest margin of victory against a non-conference Power 5 conference opponent since 1999, and the athletic department set a record for media credentials distributed. Remember, this team finished 1-11 last year before Sanders' arrival.

Colorado has dropped to +8000 to win the national title and is taking the third-most action of any school, getting 7.9% of the handle behind Alabama and Michigan at BetMGM.

At offshore book BetOnline: "We are crazy exposed on Colorado... the bets just don't stop coming in," said Sportsbook Manager Adam Burns. "It's still early in the season, but it's a big red number right now so we've had to set a market low in terms of the Buffaloes' current CFP odds."

Deion's son Shedeur has become the second Colorado quarterback in history with consecutive games of at least 350 passing yards and three total TDs, joining Koy Detmer in 1996, and is now +2000 to win the Heisman Trophy. Teammate Travis Hunter is +3500.

Fox's Big Noon Kickoff was in Boulder for Saturday's game, which made sense because the network showed the game. It will be back in Boulder this Saturday even though it's an ESPN game – and ESPN GameDay will be on hand, too.

Even though Colorado had been in the doldrums before Sanders, it has won five straight over its rival from Fort Collins as the schools meet for the first time since 2019. The last four in the series have been won by 14 points each. It's CSU's first trip to Boulder in 14 years since a 23-17 win at Folsom Field.
