'Could be the best I've trained': Ciaron Maher's big rap for Golden Eagle favourite Light Infantry

Victoria's leading trainer Ciaron Maher has won 29 group one races at the elite level. He thinks his imported galloper Light Infantry might be the best of the lot. Light infantry runs in Saturday's $10 million Golden Eagle at Rosehill under a unique training arrangement. The horse is in the Golden Eagles care of Maher and his training partner David Eustace. It will be returned to its original trainer David Simcock in England in mid-2023. Maher spent time in Sydney at Canterbury racecourse over the last few weeks. On Tuesday he put the horse through his final paces.

Interpretation is going to run in the Archer Stakes to get a chance to race in Tuesday's $8 million Melbourne Cup. Coolangatta will run at the Coolmore Stud Stake.
