Cricket World Cup betting racket busted in Moodbidri, 3 arrested

Moodbidri, Oct 17: Acting on a definite tip-off police raided Kadalakare Park at Ontikatte in Marpady village here on Monday October 16 and found that Sukesh Acharya was involved in cricket betting on mobile website allpaanel.com/m/home.

On inquiry, Sukesh said that Purandar had given him money to bet on the match between Sri Lanka and Australia. It also came to light that the website is controlled by a person living in Mumbai. Sukesh also said that he was waiting for people who will come to the park to bet on the match.

Moodbidri police arrested Sukesh Acharya (33) from Uribettu Mane, Alangar, Marpady village, Umesh (40) from Basavanakaje, Padumarnadu village and Purandara Kulal (38), a resident of Palakala Mane, Puttige village of Moodbidri.

SI of Moodbidri police station Siddappa Naranoora, Pradeep, Zaid and Venkatesh were involved in the operation.
