Cubs: Signing a shortstop also answers the second base question

Nico Hoerner is an elite defender and a good bat-to-ball player. He has a growing leadership presence in the young Chicago clubhouse. Hoersner has answered the questions that surrounded him defensively.

Cubs are looking for a shortstop. Nick Madrigal struggled last season. Hoerner is a better option than Madrial. The team needs to add some offensive firepower. If they sign Hoersner, they will have to replace Nick Maddon at second base. They will need to sign Trea Turner, Dansby Swanson and Carlos Correa. Bogaerts and Correas are free agents. Treas and Swanson play shortstop, while Correr plays second. Madridal is at his best when he uses the entire field. He will look to get back to his former form in 2023.

Madrigal is going to make some changes to his body this winter. He is excited about the rest of the season.
