Benavidez has not been shy when expressing his dislike for Plant, which has existed for years. This is the fight he has always wanted, and he felt that it didn’t happen for one reason or another, but here we are. Also, whatever happens in this fight, don’t expect any handshakes or hugs after the fight, as Benavidez has clearly stated he will not do it.

As for Plant, he’s been strategic with getting to this Benavidez fight, as he landed the Canelo Alvarez lottery ticket last May. It seemed like he knew the Benavidez fight would be there regardless, so why not make the biggest payday of his career first which is exactly what he did. For this promotion, mind games has been the strategy, as Plant bought the URL with Benavidez’s name and asked for a ring slightly bigger than the norm. Can we get to Saturday night already?
