Denmark vs Kazakhstan

Denmark will be seeking some revenge when they welcome Kazakhstan to Parken for a Group H fixture in the European Championship qualifiers. The Kazakhs won the reverse fixture and have impressed in this campaign but Denmark often do their best work at home and should have the upper hand.

Group H of the European Championship qualifiers is likely to go down to the wire with just one point separating the top four teams. Denmark are level on 13 points with group leaders Slovenia and will be desperate to fend off the teams breathing down their neck.

It has been a solid enough qualifying campaign for Denmark, who have lost just once in six matches. They picked up a 1-0 victory over Finland in their previous fixture with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s effort four minutes from time proving the difference in a tricky encounter.

Denmark’s only defeat in the qualifiers came against Kazakhstan and they will be seeking some revenge on Saturday. Kasper Hjulmand’s men have reasons to be confident having won their three home matches in this campaign.

Kazakhstan have been the surprise team in this qualifying campaign as they are putting in an almighty effort to reach their first major international competition. They have won four of their six matches so far and are just one point off the pace in the standings.

The Kazakhs head into Saturday’s clash off the back of a 1-0 victory over Northern Ireland last time out in the qualifiers. Maksim Samorodov’s effort midway through the first half proved to be the difference as they were able to hold on for the win.

The interesting thing about Kazakhstan’s campaign is that their two defeats have come at home as they have surprisingly done better on their travels. Magomed Adiev’s men have won their two away matches so far, although they are yet to face any of the teams above them away from home.

How the bookies view it

Denmark are considered overwhelming favourites among the bookies with a home win priced at 1/6 with bet365. A victory for Kazakhstan is valued at 20/1 by Paddy Power while Unibet is offering odds of 5/2 for a draw.

Head to head

Denmark generally have a good record in this fixture having claimed four wins from five previous matches against Kazakhstan. However, they were beaten 3-2 in the reverse fixture back in June despite taking a two goal lead thanks to a brace from Rasmus Hojlund.

Players to watch

Rasmus Hojlund has caught the eye in the qualifiers and has already found the net six times so far. The Manchester United striker netted a brace in the reverse fixture and is priced at 10/11 by Paddy Power to get on the score sheet on Saturday.

Kazakhstan have spread their goals across the team. However, Abat Aymbetov is usually the furthest player forward and with three goals in the qualifiers, could be considered to score anytime at 13/2 with bet365.

Anything else catch the eye?

Having produced over 3.5 goals in the reverse fixture, a similar outcome could be on the cards at 7/5 with Paddy Power. Both teams could also be backed to score at 9/5 with Unibet.

Denmark will be keen for a comfortable win and having scored at least three goals in two of their last three home matches, a -2 handicap could be considered at 5/4 with BoyleSports.
