Detroit Red Wings vs. Canadiens Game 77 Preview, Prediction, Odds

The Detroit Red Wings will continue their road trip through Canada after picking up a victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs off the back of a Dylan Larkin hat trick. The same game in which Red Wings prospect Marco Kasper made his NHL debut.

The Detroit Red Wings continued moving east as they headed to Montreal to take on the Canadiens. The Habs are engulfed in a tough season, being dead last in the division and second to last in the conference, with only the Columbus Blue Jackets ahead of them in the Tank for Bedard standings.

The Red Wings are doing their best job at tanking, but the win against Toronto did not help that. Then again, the organization seems to be standing pat that they are trying to play meaningful hockey games down the stretch and work on executing in preparation for the future of this hockey club.

They’ll continue to rely on Alex Nedeljkovic and Magnus Hellberg between the pipes. Nedeljkovic is back from the AHL and has looked like he has found his game in his return to Detroit to man the crease.

Detroit Red Wings game information and prediction vs. Canadiens

The Habs have relied on their new captain, Nick Suzuki, who has been the bright spot in their offense. His battery mate, Cole Caufield, managed 36 points in 46 games before his season ended early with a shoulder injury.

The Red Wings will have a much easier time against the Habs. They will bring some physicality, but the Red Wings have been playing physically as well. It will be interesting to see how the two sides match up.

Game: Detroit Red Wings (34-33-9) v.s. Montreal Canadiens (30-41-6)

When: Tuesday, April 4th

Time: 7:30 PM ET

Where: Bell Centre

Where to Watch: Bally Sports Detroit/ ESPN+

Odds: According to DraftKings, the Detroit Red Wings are the favorite with a -120 payout on the Moneyline. The Montreal Canadiens have a +100 payout on the Moneyline as the underdog. The Red Wings are -1.5 on the Puck Line with a +205 payout. The Habs are +1.5 on the Puck Line with a -245 payout. The over/under is set at 6.5. The over and under both have a -110 payout.

Prediction: The Detroit Red Wings have a better shot at winning this one than most of their recent contests. I think this is an easily winnable game for the Red Wings. Now tanking for Bedard is the best, but the Red Wings are in a position to win this one. I like the Red Wings on the Moneyline here and the over in this one.
