Australian Open betting analysis

There's considerable variance in the Australian Open odds across our best sportsbooks this far out from the tournament. There is value to be found up and down the landscape for both the men's and women's tournaments depending on which books you use. Kudos to FanDuel, which has at least co-best odds on eight of the top 10 on the men's side.

Expect the betting options to become more standardized closer to the end of 2023 as the ATP and WTA rankings take shape.

Australian Open odds movement

There have been some notable movements in the 2024 Australian Open odds, with many of the top names losing value over the last month and others further down the list showing longer odds than at the summer's end. Djokovic has gained steam at many of the best sports betting apps, so you may need to go line shopping to find the best value.

The exception to this is Jannik Sinner, who's seen his odds slashed in half at most sites from as high as +1400.

On the women's side, Coco Gauff's U.S. Open victory in 2023 propelled her up the Australian Open oddsboard and caused some shuffling for the other contenders around her new position. However, Swiatek has fallen about a point on average in November while nearest rivals Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina rose slightly.

Australian Open odds 2024: Favorite

Djokovic being the consensus favorite for the 2024 Australian Open isn't surprising. He's still trading at plus money, but those days will likely end. The Serbian athlete clinched four out of the last five runnings of this tournament and was barred from participating in the one he didn't win. Following his 2023 Australian Open triumph, he secured another victory at Roland Garros, establishing himself as the all-time men's record holder in grand slam titles. He achieved another triumph in the U.S. Open for good measure.

There's no guarantee we'll get better odds than this before January 2024, especially because we've seen some tightening up already over the last month, and the price will surely drop if he can win again near the end of 2023.

Australian Open odds 2024: Contender

Alcaraz doesn't offer long odds, but he should be considered a contender despite relatively early exits from the Australian Open in his two previous attempts. Alcaraz has two grand slam titles to his name, defeating Casper Ruud to win the 2022 U.S. Open before toppling Djokovic at Wimbledon earlier in 2023.

Australian Open odds 2024: Long shot

Bookmakers continue to disrespect Ruud in futures odds for grand slams. The Norwegian reached the final of three of the last seven Grand Slams. He suffered defeats in those three matches against Nadal, Alcaraz, and Djokovic, so he can hardly be faulted.
