Dodgers vs Padres MLB Prediction & Picks for Seoul Series (3/20)

This Dodgers vs Padres MLB prediction and Seoul Series best bets are brought to you by Bovada. Bovada is a market leader in sports betting, offering various options from the MLB to the NBA and everything in between.

Even though Opening Day isn’t until next Thursday, the 2024 MLB season technically begins on Wednesday with a massive clash in Seoul, South Korea between the star-studded LA Dodgers (0-0) and San Diego Padres (0-0).

Both sides hope to begin the new campaign right after coming up short last season. Despite racking up 100 wins in 2023, the Dodgers couldn’t get the job done in the playoffs as they were swept in three games by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLDS. Meanwhile, the Padres missed the postseason for the 15th time since 2007 after going 82-80 during the regular season.

When it comes to winning the 2024 World Series, LA is currently Bovada’s +300 favorite to win it all while San Diego is in a three-way tie for 11th (+2500).

Dodgers vs Padres Prediction & MLB Picks Today (3/20): A New Season Begins

Tomorrow morning’s clash marks the first of 13 Dodgers-Padres matchups taking place this season. Last year’s series went to the Dodgers as they won nine of the 13 meetings, which included eight multi-run victories over the Padres.

Needless to say, LA is hoping to pick up right from where it left off on Wednesday. There’s a good chance of that happening after the Dodgers loaded up their roster over the offseason, which includes bringing in two-time AL MVP Shohei Ohtani on a monster $700 million contract. While issues with his elbow will prevent him from pitching this season, Ohtani won’t have any issues swinging his bat and will look to continue to terrorize opposing pitchers after cranking 124 home runs over the last three seasons — second-most in the MLB during that time.

In addition to Ohtani, the Dodgers also added Teoscar Hernandez’s bat to the lineup after the veteran outfielder tallied 26 HRs last season. It’s safe to say that adding the duo puts LA’s batting order over the edge considering how it already boasted the likes of Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, and Will Smith.

Dodgers vs Padres MLB Prediction and best bets for Seoul SeriesWill the Dodgers’ elite batting lineup be too much for the Padres to handle?

Compared to the Dodgers, the Padres’ offseason was quiet outside of acquiring RHP Dylan Cease from the Chicago White Sox in a five-player deal on March 13. Having said that, Cease won’t be starting on Wednesday. Instead, that honor goes to Yu Darvish.

Darvish, 37, is coming off a down year that saw him go 8-10 with a 4.56 ERA and 1.298 WHIP across 24 starts with the Padres. Having said that, he did win one of his two starts against Los Angeles.

As for the Dodgers, they’re sending Tyler Glasnow to the mound to open the 2024 campaign. After 5.5 seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, Glasnow was traded to the Dodgers after pitching to a 10-7 record with a 3.53 ERA and 12.2 strikeouts per nine innings across 21 starts in 2023.

Glasnow has only faced the Padres thrice throughout his career and each time was a relief appearance. Nevertheless, he recorded a 1.80 ERA with six strikeouts across five innings in those matchups.

After loading up over the winter, I’m taking the Dodgers to open the 2024 MLB season with a victory. On top of boasting the most stacked roster in the Majors, the Dodgers also proved last season that they could handle the Padres with ease. Unless Darvish is at the top of his game for San Diego, this could wind up becoming ugly.

Additionally, I like the Over on the 8.5-run total, too. After all, the last seven games between these two rivals averaged a whopping 13.6 runs, finishing with nine or more six times. With the Dodgers and Padres looking to put on a show for the Seoul Series, I anticipate plenty of fireworks come Wednesday.

Best Dodgers vs Padres Seoul Series Prop Bet (3/20)

As he gets set to make his Dodgers debut, I’m taking Shohei Ohtani to record over 1.5 total bases for the top Seoul Series player prop bet.

During the 2023 campaign, Ohtani racked up 325 total bases across 135 games, averaging to 2.4 TBs per outing. He also finished the year with the fifth-most extra-base hits in the Majors (78) to go along with his 73 singles, further illustrating how consistent he was.

Ohtani knows how to rise up when it matters the most, so look for him to have a productive first outing to begin the new year.
