Dunboyne Grand National Odds & Betting Profile

Dunboyne is set to run in the Grand National at Aintree on Saturday 15th April, 2023 and comes here on the back of a decent run in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham when finishing fourth. An eight-year-old Irish raider for Gordon Elliott, here we profile the gelding and take a look at his form, stats, pedigree and much more ahead of the world's greatest steeplechase...

Age: 8

Trainer: Gordon Ellliott

Chase Runs: 7

Chase Wins: 1

Gordon Elliott of course has tremendous history with the Grand National after Silver Birch's win and Tiger Roll's heroics when going back to back. He will be pinning most of his hopes on another runner beginning with D to hand him his fourth Grand National title, but although Delta Work is close to favourite another of his entrants Dunboyne shouldn't be dismissed.

It is a rarity to see a horse at 50/1 and with RR in his form figures in many people's Grand National tips folder, however Dunboyne does have some decent form this season and fits the age profile of Grand National winners. Running with a feather weight of just ten stone, Elliott's charge shouldn't be ruled out on the back of his good run in the Kim Muir last time out as well as his short head defeat earlier in the season behind the smart Carefully Selected in the Thyestes.

In the recent Irish Grand National Defi Bleu ran a cracker and Dunboyne finished ahead of him at Cheltenham on his previous start. The main stick to beat this horse's chances with is the notion he won't stay or enjoy the unique jumping test due to his quirky nature (he has refused to race in the past). However, he seems to now be a much more switched on proposition.

His win last November at Gowran Park over 2m4 reads well and although the stamina concerns are valid, he could be a lively outsider for those who like to back one at a massive price each-way in the world's biggest race.
