The Emerging Ireland tour will give the senior team coaches the chance to examine aptitude, attitude and playing skills of promising young players. Easterby confirms that Emerging Irish mirror the Senior Ireland in playing style. He accepts that in ideal circumstances, some players would advance their cases to be selected for the A international against an All Blacks XV at the RDS in November and then the November test series. He also accepts there will be players who surprise the public and supporters. The tour is not test match rugby, but it will provide an environment that is closely aligned to what the national team does in the game.
