El Tormenta Rallies to 44-1 Upset in Woodbine Mile
El Tormenta, a 44-1 longshot, won the $1 million Ricoh Woodbine Mile. He was bred and owned by Sam-Son Farm. The farm operates a breeding and foaling facility in Milton, Ontario and a training operation in Ocala, Florida. The win payoff was the largest in the 22-year history of the Wood bine. It earned El Torment a berth in a $2 million TVG Breeders’ Cup Mile at Santa Anita Park on November 2. Sam Son Farm was founded in 1972. Soaring Free, Quiet Resolve and El Torona are previous Wood Bine winners.
