Equibase Analysis: Upset Brewing In TVG.com Haskell

This year's TVG.com Haskell Stakes drew a field of eight horses. Jack Christopher is the only unbeaten horse in the field. Taiba won the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby in April and was second betting choice in Grade One Kentucky Derby. Cyberknife won Grade 3 Matt Winn Stake and Howling Time came up a nose short of winning the Matt. Winn. White Abarrio finished second in grade 3 Ohio Derby at the end of June.

The Ohio Derby is run at the nine-furlong distance of the Haskell. White Abarrio won at this distance in the Florida Derby this spring. Jack Christopher and Taiba are the favorites, but neither can beat the other horses. Taibai has only run two times before and he has a lack of experience. His sire, Munnings, has had 11 different horses make a total of 25 starts in stakes races at all levels at that distance. Bonny South is a winner of $1 million but she's only had one other start at nine furlongs. She's had four seconds and one third-place finish at her races.
