ESPN Bet: NFL Wildcard Weekend Special Props

For bettors new to the ESPN Bet app, there are more options to wager than standard spreads and game props. One of those unique options is the Specials Props.

These Specials Props involve multiple player props within a single bet. They are essentially single-bet parlays with some enticing odds to take advantage of.

On top of that, X-Factor bettors can parlay these Specials Props as well. For example, bettors who tailed my would have come away with 4,723 dollars on a $10 parlay using these Special Props.

These are the Special Props I’m targeting in this playoff matchup …

Amon-Ra St. Brown Over 69.5 Receiving Yards & Receiving Touchdown (+175)

As much as this game could become a slugfest on the ground, I’m expecting both of these teams to air it out with two specific targets in mind. For the Lions, that man is Amon-Ra St. Brown. ARSB has reached both of these marks in his last four games, and I don’t expect this hot streak to end in Round 1.

The Los Angeles Rams are T-2nd (behind only the Buffalo Bills) with a 78% zone coverage deployment on defense among the 14 playoff teams. Their 9.4 aDOT allowed is 2nd-worst, behind only the Lions. Amon-Ra is a zone killer, with a whopping 28% target share and 3.24 YPRR against that coverage this season.

With Sam LaPorta banged up and the only real receiving options for the Lions, I’m expecting ARSB to take over in this matchup in a similar fashion that we saw Nico Collins take over the Texans game last week. St. Brown is Jared Goff’s most trusted option, and if the Lions want to keep this game close, ARSB will need to be involved early and often.

Amon-Ra St. Brown & Puka Nacua Receiving Touchdown (+400), Puka Nacua Over 69.5 Yards & Receiving Touchdown (+210)

I mentioned above why I like ARSB in this matchup, but Puka Nacua offers a lot of upside in Stafford’s return to Ford Field.

The Lions’ defense is incredibly susceptible to the big play. They give up the most yards per attempt among all the playoff teams and were second-worst during the regular season. The Lions also played man coverage at the 7th-highest clip in the second half of the regular season. And while Cooper Kupp received more looks than Nacua against man, the latter was , and had an incredible 2.99 YPRR – and accounted for 43% of the team’s yardage under those circumstances.

Puka isn’t a slouch in zone coverage either. Among all wide receivers drafted since 2018, Nacua has the 5th-highest YPRR against zone coverage.

The All-Pro receiver makes his touches count, and I think there will be more than one opportunity for him to find the end zone in this game.

Matthew Stafford Over 249.5 Passing Yards & Puka Nacua Over 69.5 Receiving Yards & Puka Nacua Receiving Touchdown (+280), Matthew Stafford Over 249.5 Passing Yards & Puka Nacua Anytime Touchdown (+180), Matthew Stafford Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns & Rams Win (+210)

Just like last week, there’s another parlay baked into these ESPN Specials Bets. This time, we’re relying on the combination of Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua. While I do believe Jared Goff will have a good game himself, I had to give the edge to Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford.

As mentioned above, the Lions’ defense gave up an absurd 7.8 yards per attempt during the regular season. It just so happens that Matthew Stafford’s YPA is 7.6, good for QB6 this season. Stafford likes to take shots downfield, and lately, that’s been to Puka Nacua.

The Lions’ defense plays well against the run, so I’m expecting the Rams to rely on the arm of Stafford and their pass-catching weapons. Cooper Kupp will likely have his hands full with rookie Brian Branch, leading to Nacua feasting on the rest of the back end which is susceptible to the big play. Specifically, keep an eye on matchups involving Cam Sutton, who is the CB88 in terms of CPOE (completion percentage over expectation).

If Jared Goff and the Lions’ offense can play well, this game is likely to become more of a shootout than a slugfest. And in that environment, I expect Stafford to go above 250 passing yards and two touchdowns. Stafford has thrown for over 250 yards in the last five games he’s played in. He’s also thrown at least two touchdowns in all but two games since the team’s Week 10 bye.

I think the Rams are a better team than they’re perceived to be. And given the history between McVay and Goff, I think it gives the edge to Los Angeles in what should be an incredible game.
