Tigers big man Caden Pierce was also key in the second-round matchup, finishing the game with a ridiculous 16 rebounds, but it was ultimately Princeton’s sixth man that pushed them over the edge. Blake Peters saw just 15 minutes of action but made his presence known, dropping 17 points on 62% 3-point shooting to seal the deal. Princeton’s last trip to the Sweet 16 dates all the way back to 1967, when the NCAA tournament featured just 23 teams.

Princeton will now turn their attention to the six-seeded Creighton Bluejays, a program that has exceeded expectations through the tournament's first two rounds. Creighton defeated 11-seed NC State, followed by three-seed Baylor, to make it to the Sweet 16, winning both contests by 9 points. Unlike Princeton, the Bluejays have relied heavily on game-breaking individual performances from their star players to get the job done. In round one, it was 7’0 forward Ryan Kalkbrenner dropping 31 points, followed by sophomore guard Ryan Nembhard with a 30-point outing in the round of 32.

Creighton’s Sweet 16 matchup vs. Princeton is the highest total-seeded matchup remaining in this year’s bracket.
