CFB Week 5 odds, picks and promos: How to bet on Louisville vs. NC State online in Kentucky and Florida vs. Kentucky

You've signed up for an account with FanDuel Kentucky, and now you're ready to bet on some in-state college football action this weekend. Here are the odds (via FanDuel) for two games featuring teams from Kentucky:

Louisville (4-0 SU, 2-2 ATS) vs. NC State (3-1 SU, 0-4 ATS): odds, moneyline, and total

  • Point spread: Louisville -3.5 (-105); NC State +3.5 (-115)
  • Moneyline: Louisville -176; NC State +146
  • Total: O/U 55.5 (-110)

Louisville is off to a 4-0 start for the first time since Lamar Jackson's Heisman Trophy-winning season in 2016. Current quarterback Jack Plummer is not Jackson, but he is off to a solid start this season, completing 67% of his passes for 1,120 yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Moving the ball will not be an issue for the Cardinals, but they have not been the best at stopping their opponents. Two of their wins were by a touchdown or less, but the other two were blowouts (but against soft competition).

As for NC State, their 3-1 record is misleading. Their wins came against UConn (24-14), VMI (45-7) and Virginia (24-21), three teams that are a combined 2-10 through Week 4. Quarterback Brennan Armstrong has been carrying the team on offense, leading it in passing and rushing yards.

Our Pick: Louisville -3.5

NC State is not as good as their record would indicate, and that will be pretty clear when the Cardinals visit them on Friday. The first half will be relatively close, but Louisville will pull away in the second.

Florida (3-1 SU, 1-3 ATS) vs. Kentucky (4-0 SU, 3-1 ATS): odds, moneyline, and total

  • Point spread: Florida +2.5 (-106); Kentucky -2.5 (-114)
  • Moneyline: Florida +116; Kentucky -140
  • Total: O/U 45.5 (-108/-112)

Kentucky has looked great on both sides of the ball this season, but their schedule has been soft. On the other hand, Florida lost their season opener to Utah but have won their last three, including a 29-16 win over a ranked Tennessee team.

From a statistical perspective, the Wildcats have been more productive on offense, averaging 38 PPG to 27.8 PPG for Florida. The Gators' defense has been more formidable, holding opponents to 13.5 PPG to 15.5 for Kentucky. But these numbers are influenced by the quality of competition both teams have faced.

The game will be a test for the undefeated Wildcats. Are they as good as their record indicates? Florida will undoubtedly put up a fight. After losing their opener to Utah, the offense has improved with each passing week, and their defense has been tough to move the ball on.

Our Pick: Under 45.5 (-110)

Both teams will lean more on the run and their defense than their passing game. Not that either has a bad passing attack; it just isn't the strength of the offense for either team. The winner will probably be whoever throws the ball better. But since defense and the run game will take center stage, expect a low score.
