Luka Doncic and the Mavericks take on Chris Paul and the Suns in Phoenix on Thursday. Both teams have been dragging a bit lately with Dallas going 3-7 over the past 10 games and Phoenix going 5-5.

Paul seems to be back to 100% as he’s put up a double-double in both of his games coming back from injury. Suns star Devin Booker has been out for a few weeks due to a groin strain and isn’t likely to return anytime soon, so Phoenix will need the role players to step up to maintain their playoff position.

The Mavericks, meanwhile, have been mostly a one-man show this season. Luka’s put up a double-double in his past three games.

Despite Doncic’s high production, the Mavericks have dropped two straight games. Luka will consistently put up great numbers, but the team has struggled to close out opponents in games they should win, evidenced by their loss to the Wizards earlier this week.

While these two teams have been struggling a bit and injuries have depleted the Suns’ talent, this will likely be a competitive game throughout. Both teams are jockeying for a Western Conference playoff spot.

There are some intriguing player props here as well.

Spencer Dinwiddie is the Mavs’ second option right now and not a bad one. He’s shot just about 40% from behind the arc this year and is averaging just over five assists to go with his nearly 17 points a game.

If Dallas wants to make a deep playoff run they’ll need another piece but, for Thursday’s game, look for Dinwiddie to sink at least three 3s. The Suns have struggled a bit to defend the 3 and with Luka drawing a lot of defensive attention, Dinwiddie will get a few open looks.

For the Suns, Mikal Bridges has become a critical offensive component in Booker’s absence. He’s put up 20 points or more in six of the past 10 games.

With Paul back and looking to dish out the assists, Bridges will have a good chance to bolster his scoring averages. Look for him to put up at least 20 points in this one.

Given how banged up the Suns are lately though, this is a good chance for the Mavericks to right the ship. Look for Luka and the Mavs to get a road win here and stop the slide.
