Fans joke 'that aged well' as Conor McGregor's tweet to All Blacks before Rugby World Cup clash with Ireland goes wrong

FANS poked fun at Conor McGregor after his jibe at New Zealand backfired.

The MMA star warned New Zealand that Ireland would not be daunted by the threat posed by the All Blacks in their Rugby World Cup quarter-final clash.

He also dismissed New Zealand's haka as "weak" in a since-deleted tweet.

McGregor was made to regret his words after Ireland lost 28-24 to bow out at the quarter-final stage once again.

Fans were quick to ridicule The Notorious in response to his pre-match tweet, which read: "Dear @Allblacks, the only black stuff that scares our lads are s**** pints and there's none to be found."

Jubilant Kiwis taunted the fighter while other fans took delight in McGregor being made to eat his words.

One fan said: "This aged well!"

Another added: "How that go for ya champ?"

A third wrote: "Better luck next World Cup mate "

And another commented: "You're having a bad day with sporting outcomes today ", in reference to his pal Dillon Danis losing to Logan Paul at last night's Misfits boxing event.

Another famous Ireland fan, actor Paul Mescal, looked heartbroken as Ireland bowed out of the competition.

Ireland were one of the favourites to triumph in France and beat holders South Africa in the group stage, but came undone despite the All Blacks having two players sin-binned during the match.
