Flames Visual Recap: Calgary picks up a preseason shootout win over Winnipeg

Calgary Flames hockey is back in full swing and the preseason comes with no shortage of nonstop hockey. Playing in their fourth game of the preseason already, the Flames dressed a semi-decent roster while giving their best players rest still. Among the scratched players included newly-named captain Mikael Backlund, but also unfortunately included Jakob Pelletier, who will be out for the foreseeable future. On top of that, Flames’ Vice President of Data and Analytics Chris Snow suffered a catastrophic brain injury after going into cardiac arrest. The Flames fan base and communities wishes all the best to the Snow family.

To say the Flames have had a turbulent day is an understatement. The team was surround by both celebration and heartbreak all within one calendar day, and it serves as reminder that there are things bigger than just the sport. However, the team was still scheduled to play, and play on they did.

The Flames and Jets battled it out and despite trailing twice, the Flames had answers and were able to bring the game into overtime. The extra frame didn’t solve anything, so the Flames looked to string together two straight shootout wins. A lone goal by Andrew Mangiapane coupled with perfect saves from Dustin Wolf put the team into the win column.

With it still being preseason, here are the available charts using the current data. Using game data and studying game trends can help inform future decisions made on Canadian betting sites.
