Flames vs Jets Picks, Predictions, and Odds Tonight

The Flames have been struggling to stay lit of late, and aren't inspiring a ton of confidence against the cruising Jets. See why our NHL picks find value in the home side tonight.

The Calgary Flames travel to meet the Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre on Wednesday night.

The Flames played at home Tuesday night, suffering a devastating 4-3 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Winnipeg Jets enter Wednesday’s contest with 89 points, sitting in the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference, trying to hold off the Flames from overtaking them in the standings.

This is the third and final meeting of the regular season, with the home team winning each of the first two matchups.

Will the Jets strengthen their hold on the wild-card spot, or will the Flames burn Winnipeg and shuffle up the card situation out West? We’ll discuss in our NHL betting picks for Flames vs. Jets on Wednesday, April 5.

Flames vs Jets best odds

Flames vs Jets picks and predictions

The Flames were heavy favorites on Tuesday at Scotiabank Saddledome, but Calgary fell behind 2-1 after one period, and 4-2 early in the third period. The Flames were never able to get untacked, suffering a rough loss to suffer a big blow to their playoff hopes.

Meanwhile, the Jets have been dominant lately, routing both the Detroit Red Wings and the New Jersey Devils in the previous two games at home.

Winnipeg served notice to the rest of the league by hammering the Devils — a team with 104 points — by a 6-1 score on Sunday. After a bit of a power outage offensively to wrap up March, the Jets have stormed into April with a vengeance.

In fact, Winnipeg has scored six goals in each of the past two outings after amassing just six total goals in a five-game span from March 19-28, with just four points out of an available 10 points secured. Four of those outings were against non-playoff teams, too, so the Jets left the door open for the Flames a little bit.

Calgary had been hot lately, going 5-2 in the past seven games on the road, but I don’t like the fact it played a game last night, and it looked terrible, while Winnipeg is well rested. The Jets are 4-0 in the previous four meetings on home ice, and the Flames are 2-5 in the past seven meetings overall in this series.

Look for the Jets to fly away with an important two points in his crucial Western Conference battle.

Flames vs Jets moneyline analysis

The Flames had won four in a row until the ugly loss to the Blackhawks. Calgary is still 5-2 in the past seven games on the road, while going 4-1 in the past five games against Western Conference foes. However, it’s also just 3-8 in the past 11 games against Central Division opponents.

The Jets have struggled a little bit against the Pacific Division, going just 2-5 in the past seven games. To make matters even worse, Winnipeg was blanked 3-0 by the toothless San Jose Sharks on March 28, as Connor Hellebuyck did fine, but was given absolutely zero offensive support.

Prior to that, the Flames lost a 4-1 decision against the Los Angeles Kings, as again, Hellebuyck had 25 saves on 28 shots, but he failed to get any help up front. It was a common theme down the stretch in March, but now the offense is clicking.

Winnipeg has covered the puck line in the past two outings as a home favorite, outscoring Detroit and New Jersey by a combined 12-3. Is the offense back? Well, it’s not much of a sample size, but the Jets are playing well this past weekend.

I only like the Jets on the moneyline, and not the puck line, as the two covers in the past two home games snapped an 0-12 run for Winnipeg as a favorite on the puck line.

Flames vs Jets Over/Under analysis

The Flames cashed the Over in Tuesday’s home loss, and the total has now gone high in four of the past five games overall, while also going 4-1 in the past five on the road.

However, the Under is 13-4-1 in the past 18 games when playing the third game in a 3-in-4 (three games in four days) situation. In addition, the Under is 9-3 in the past 12 games for the Flames when playing on no rest.

The Jets have managed 12 total goals across the past two games, cashing the Over in each outing. That’s a stark contrast from March 16-28, which saw Winnipeg tick off seven consecutive Under results.

The Under has been a common theme this season when the teams get together, with the home side winning 3-2 in each of the previous two meetings.

In fact, the Under is 22-8-1 in the past 31 meetings in this series, and a perfect 4-0 in the past four meetings at Canada Life Centre. Go low on the total.
