Flashback: Northern Dancer wins Derby-Queen’s Plate double

Northern Dancer won the Derby and Queen's Plate in 1964. He was a homebred racing for E.P. Taylor's Windfields Farm. Northern Dancers won all three of his races. He won at Churchill Downs and Preakness. After the Queen’s Plate he was beaten in Belmont Stakes. His performance was memorable. A crowd of 31,228 turned out to see him in action. The horse was the overwhelming favorite. It was only two weeks later that he returned to Woodbine to win the Plate.
