Flyers vs Islanders Prediction

The New York Islanders and Philadelphia Flyers face off on Saturday in an NHL showdown at UBS Arena. Take a look at our Flyers vs Islanders Prediction.

Islanders Reaching Key Point of Season

The Islanders are reaching a key point of their season as they try to get back into the playoff race. On Wednesday, the Islanders faced off against the Philadelphia Flyers and they ended up with a 3-2 victory. On Friday night the Islanders faced off against the Senators in Ottawa.  The Islanders on the season are averaging 2.56 goals while their defense is giving up 3.17 goals per game. The offense is ranked 30th in the league, and it hasn’t been good enough. They need to find a way to get the offense going here.

Flyers  Offense Needs to Bounce Back

The Flyers suffered another loss on Friday against the New York Rangers. The Flyers offense only managed one goal and they ended up losing by two. Carter Hart was in goal and he saved 16 of the 19 shots that he faced. Sean Couturier was the only goal scorer. The Flyers are averaging 3.15 goals while their defense is giving up 2.9 goals per game. They are facing an offense that isn’t very good and that means the defense can’t struggle. They also need to try to get the first goal to really put the pressure on the Islanders.

Shane’s Free Pick

This total is too high. The Islanders offense is a major issue and on tired legs, it’s not going to get any easier. The Flyers also only managed to score one goal on Friday and I think they are alos going to really struggle to get many quality scoring chances here. Neither team is going to reach 30 goals and that will be the difference as this game is going to stay under the total. Back the under.
