Predictions

We all love getting home at the end of the day. It’s an opportunity to crack open a beer, put on some comfortable clothes, and exhale the stress away. Who doesn’t feel supremely comfortable in their own domain?

The answer to this question just might be the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers carry an 18-10-3 record into tonight’s matchup against the Nashville Predators, and to be frank, there’s been no real point of weakness this season. However, if we were to nit-pick, the Flyers’ road performances have turned out slightly more impressive than their performances at home. Tonight, Philadelphians will flood into the Wells Fargo Center where the Flyers have accumulated an 8-6-1 record, contrasted with the 10-4-2 record in every other corner of North America.

Looking more closely, there were only two shaky stretches in 2023. The first occurred around Halloween when the Flyers dropped seven of nine games between October 21 and November 7. Five of those nine games were at home, and four of the five were losses. The second stretch occurred just a month ago when the Flyers dropped four of five games between November 22 and November 30. Three of those five games were at home, and all three were losses.

Tonight’s return to the Farg won’t be a breeze. The Predators might mediocrely sit in the middle of the Central Division, but they boast an 18-14-0 record with one of their wins coming against the Flyers. Just two weeks ago when these teams faced off in Nashville, the Flyers put up a hell of a fight. It was a low scoring game requiring overtime, and while no one likes a loser point, the Flyers showed that they have what it takes to hang with the big guys. Can they grab back a win at home? Here are our picks:

Picks

Over 5.5 (-130)

  • Well, fam. It finally happened. DraftKings Sportsbook finally dropped the Over/Under below 6. One can assume why–both of these goaltenders (assuming Hart and Saros each get the start) are brick walls in net. Notably, Hart might still be battling an illness, and Saros had a peculiarly bad outing against Vancouver on Tuesday, so who really knows which goaltenders will tend the goals? With that said, we will happily take the over.
