Football/History: All African teams for the World Cup will be led by local coaches.

Morocco have appointed Walid Regragui as head coach of the Atlas Lions. He will join a stellar cast of four other African coaches to lead their country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Walid Regragui, 47, was appointed as the new coach of the Atlas Lions. He won 45 caps for the Morocco national team. Reggagu led Wydad Athletic Club to the CAF Champions League title and local championship last season. Morocco have been drawn in Group F and will face Croatia, Belgium and Canada at the World Cup.

Aliou Cissé will be Senegal's next coach. He led them to their first Africa Cup of Nations title in 2010. Cisse was also named Coach of the Year at the CAF Awards in July.

Rigobert Song was appointed as Cameroon coach on February 28, 2022. He is the second Cameroonian to lead the team to the World Cup. The first was Leonard Nseke, who led the Indomitable Lions to qualify for the 1994 World cup in the United States.

Jalel Kadri helped Tunisia's Carthage Eagles win the World Cup for the sixth time in their history. He became the third local tactician to help Tunisia qualify for World Cups after Abdelmajid Chetali (1978) and Nabil Ma

All African teams for the World Cup will be led by local coaches. Five African coaches will take part in the tournament in Qatar. The presence of the five African coach represents a step towards the development of African football. The CAF Pro License is the highest certification of a coach education system. It is reserved for coaches actively practicing at a professional level and having previously acquired a CAf A license or an equivalent qualification recognized by CAFA.
