Four-time Melbourne Cup winning jockey Harry White dies

Harry White has died after a long illness. He won the Melbourne Cup four times, including on Rubiton in 1987. White also won Melbourne Jockeys’ Premiership four years in a row. In his 35-year career, he had close to 200 wins in feature races, with 60 at Group 1 level. He was inducted into the Racing”s Hall of Fame in 2003. The Victorian Jockey Association paid tribute to him as a champion jockey and a compassionate man.
