Fox commits Boks 'blasphemy' after losing World Cup final bet

Ryan Fox has been forced to wear a Springbok jersey during a pro-am golf tournament after losing a bet with his South African caddie Dean Smith.

"This feels like blasphemy for me." the son of former All Black Grant Fox said.

With New Zealand losing to the Springboks 12-11 at the Rugby World Cup last month, Fox also succumbed to defeat.

"We had a little bet on the final, no money at all, but purely pride. If the Springboks won I had to wear this for three holes in the pro-am. And if the All Blacks won, he had to use an All Blacks yardage book cover for a year."

Smith said he was "delighted" to see Fox in the green and gold.

While the world number 27 may have lost the bet, he's had a lot to be happy about this year, winning over $6.1 million with three top-three finishes in his last four starts on the DP World Tour.

Fox and fellow Kiwi Daniel Hillier are competing this week in the Nedbank Golf Challenge event in Sun City, South Africa.
