From pauper to prince: the man behind Hong Kong racing sensation Pakistan Star

Din lives in a twin-level apartment in Pok Fu Lam with harbour views. He has been a Jockey Club member for more than 40 years. Din has photos of him with some of the greatest characters of professional era. Last Monday he gave lai see packets stuffed with cash to staff at trainer Tony Cruz's stable. Din knew Tony's father Johnny, who was a great jockey. Tony is who Din put his horses with now. Pakistan Star won the second race of his career at Sha Tin on September 18. The crowd stayed for the whole race. They were still there five minutes after Din had completed interviews. There was one fan who reminded Din of a previous jockeying father.
