FSU football: Preview, prediction for Seminoles vs. Syracuse Orange

Syracuse Orange lost to Clemson last month. They lost their next two games to Notre Dame and Pittsburgh. Florida State is coming to the JMA Wireless Dome at 8 p.m. on Saturday. The Seminoles are 7-point betting favorites. Syracuse's starting quarterback, Garrett Shrader, is injured.

Even if Shrader plays, it's not a certainty that he will look like his usual self. Syracuse has been a drastically different team without Shrerader. The Orange have yielded 233.3 rushing yards on average through their last three games. FSU is No. 17 in rushing offense (211.8 yards per game) and has reached at least 200 yards in each of their past four games (200-plus).

Syracuse lost to FSU last season, but has improved this season. The Seminoles have struggled against the run this year. Syracuse's defense is strong in almost every area. FFS has struggled in the red zone recently. The Orange are No. 14 in pass-efficiency defense and No 15 in scoring defense. They are also No 14 nationally in total defense (306.9 yards allowed per game) and 15th in points allowed (18.4).

FSU is playing their best football and has too much firepower. They will face an Orange defense that has slipped in recent weeks.
