Gabriel Clemens vs Michael Smith: Prediction and Betting Tips

Gabriel Clemens carried on his dream run at this year’s World Championships when he produced one of the best performances of his career ousting current world number one Gerwyn Price 5-1 in yesterday’s quarterfinal.

Clemens who is looking to become Germany’s first-ever World Champion rattled off four straight sets to wrap up a truly dominant victory. The German number one finished with an average of just under 100 and scored 8 maximums.

Michael Smith is looking to reach his 3rd World Championship Final in the last five years but will head into this contest knowing he will have to play his best darts to pull through against a top-class opponent.

Smith was the heavy favourite to beat Steven Bunting in the quarterfinals but was made to work hard, eventually edging out his fellow Englishman 5-3.

Smith’s victory was by no means his best performance but his finishing was exceptional. Only being able to average at just over 91, Smith produced finishing stats of 47% and his superior finishing prowess saw him get the job done and advance.

Michael Smith to win

Ever since his Major breakthrough at this year’s Grand Slam of Darts, many of the game’s best pundits have picked Smith as their man to beat and so far he hasn’t disappointed. Smith leads the pair’s head to head record and it’s anticipated that he will advance here.

Gabriel Clemens: Performance Analysis

Heading into the tournament as the 25th seed, few would have predicted that Gabriel Clemens would have reached his first ever World Championship semifinal. Having survived a real scare against Jonny Williams in the third round, Clemens has played really exceptional darts.

A last-sixteen victory over Alan Souttar came with a 93 average, but his demolition of world number one Gerwyn Price in the quarter saw the big German average just under 100.

In his quarterfinal victory over Price, Clemens smashed in 27 140s and if he is to beat Smith he will need to produce something similar here.

Michael Smith: Performance Analysis

Michael Smith is close to reaching his third World Championship final in the last five years but knows that he will have to be at his best if he is to reach it.

Smith has had a mixed tournament in terms of performance. He was on the brink of a third-round exit before battling back to overcome Martin Schindler 4-3, before producing a superb performance to oust world number 13 Joe Cullen in the last 16.

Smith’s victory over Steven Bunting in the quarterfinals didn’t see the Englishman score too heavily but his superb finishing saw him do just enough to edge a tight contest 5-3.
