Cricket was a big success at the Commonwealth Games. Big names from cricket nations participated. The crowds were between 15 and 20,000 for the three evening sessions. Rugby was also successful. England didn't participate. David Campese played rugby. Malaysia managed to get a team on the park. There were plenty of grog available. It was illegal to spill onto the public streets behind the stadium. Malaysian police don't mess around. They tried to whip up local interest. The rugby took off.. For the cricket games, people had to use pre-purchased tokens rather than actual money.
