Game, Set, Bet, presented by BetMGM: How many majors will Djokovic win this season-exactly?

In January, Novak Djokovic beat Stefanos Tsitsipas to win his 22nd Grand Slam, tying him with Rafael Nadal for most all time on the men’s side. In doing so, he shot back up to No. 1 in the rankings, and he did all of that with a torn freaking hamstring. Clearly, the sky is the limit for what the Serbian can achieve this season. But if you can figure out exactly how high Djokovic can climb, you could cash in.

In BetMGM’s player specials, you can bet on exact number of Grand Slams the 35-year-old will win in 2023. Meaning, you can wager on him winning only one (so no more major titles for the rest of the year) all the way up to him winning all four and completing a calendar-year Grand Slam. And considering the circumstances on the tour this year, we’d strongly suggest backing Djokovic to win three majors at +250 odds. We would even sprinkle a little something on him to win all four at +550.

Djokovic is currently the betting favorite to win the 2023 French Open, despite it historically being his most challenging major tournament. Still, we just watched Djokovic dominate the field Down Under, and 14-time French Open champion Nadal’s body is clearly breaking down. The King of Clay does have some time to get himself healthy before Paris, but it’s hard not to view Djokovic as the likeliest player to win that event.

Wimbledon presents Djokovic’s most likely path towards another Grand Slam title. The Serb has won that event seven times, and he has also done so in four of the last five years. He is the best grass-court player on the ATP Tour, by far. He is the only player in the world with an Elo rating over 2,000 on the surface, and none of his peers have shown that they have what it takes to knock him off. Matteo Berrettini is second in the world in Elo rating on the surface, but his game has dropped off of late. And Nick Kyrgios, who played a great Wimbledon final against Djokovic in 2022, needed to undergo a procedure on his knee in January. With that in mind, it’s hard to imagine anybody other than Djokovic winning in London.

The US Open is another major in which Djokovic will be the favorite to win it all. Last year, the Serbian was unable to enter the United States because of COVID-19 travel restrictions, and that paved the way for 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz to win his first Grand Slam. Alcaraz will be a threat to win that event again, and players like Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas might also present a challenge because it’s later in the season, when their young legs will come into play. But we just saw the form Djokovic reached in revenge mode in Melbourne, and he undoubtedly wants to claim another trophy in New York after having not had the chance to compete last year.

With Djokovic heading into each of the next three majors as the betting favorite, it’d be a disappointment if he doesn’t end up winning at least two more. The only thing that can stop him from doing so is bad luck in the health department. If that ends up being the reason you lose this play, you can live with that.

BET: Djokovic To Win 3 Grand Slams (+250; full unit) AND Djokovic To Win 4 Grand Slams (+550; quarter-unit)
