GameDay No. 1: Betting Odds, Lineups for Panthers at Islanders
The Florida Panthers' 2022-23 season starts tonight at 7:30 p.m. against the host New York Islanders at UBS Arena. It will be the first true opening night for the Islanders in their new luxurious arena at the Belmont Park site. The Panthers won the Presidents' Trophy last season and were the highest-scoring NHL team since the 1990s. They were swept in the second round by the Tampa Bay Lightning. New coach Paul Maurice wants his team to play a more intense game. The team has a lot of expectations after a disappointing season. Carter Verhaeghe says the team lost a number of players and has to change its style.
The Florida Panthers are expected to start with 23 Carter Verhaeghe, 16 Sasha Barkov, 13 Sam Reinhart, 19 Matthew Tkachuk, 9 Sam Bennett, 27 Eetu Luostarinen, 15 Anton Lundell, 6 Colin White, 42 Gus Forsling, 5 Aaron Ekblad, 18 Marc Staal, 62 Brandon Montour, 7 Radko Gudas, 72 Sergei Bobrovsky and 30 Spencer Knight.
Anthony Duclair, Matt Kiersted, Zac Dalpe, Justin Sourdif and Justin Derengel are injured.
Zach Parise, Mathew Barzal, Kyle Palmieri, Anthony Beauvillier, Brock Nelson, Anders Lee, Kieffer Bellows, J-G Pageau, Matt Martin, Casey Cizikas, Nikita Soshnikov, Adam Pelech, Ryan Pulock, Alexander Romanov, Noah Dobson, Robin Salo and Scott Mayfield are the Islanders' probable starting XI.
