The Ottawa Senators are preparing for the new season. They play their first game against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night. The team is looking to challenge for a playoff spot. Thomas Chabot wants to see the team play meaningful games in March and April. The Senators closed out last season on a positive note. It's been 168 days since they played against Philadelphia Flyers. Pierre Dorion made significant changes to the roster during the summer. Alex DeBrincat, Claude Giroux, Tyler Motte and Jake Sanderson are new to Ottawa. Chbot is an alternate captain. He wants the Senators to make the playoffs for first time since 2017.
