Georgia Southern Betting Outlook

Quarterback Kyle Vantrease is very familiar with Georgia Southern’s bowl opponent. He is a graduate transfer from Buffalo.

Vantrease leads the Sun Belt Conference with 3,901 passing yards. That includes a 409-yard performance when Georgia Southern upset Nebraska on Sept. 10.

Vantrease has a 61.4 completion percentage on 559 attempts to go with 25 touchdown passes. He has been intercepted 15 times.

Against Appalachian State, Vantrease was 35-of-52 passing for 389 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. He threw a game-ending 25-yard scoring pass to Ezrah Archie.

Georgia Southern is 19 in the nation in total offense with an average of 468.6 yards a game. However, the Eagles are giving up 496.1 yards, which ranks 134.

Khaleb Hood is Georgia Southern’s top receiver with 80 catches for 896 yards and three TDs. He had 10 receptions for 103 yards in the regular season finale and Jeremy Singleton also had 10 catches for 133 yards.

Buffalo gained bowl eligibility in dramatic fashion when Cole Snyder’s 16-yard touchdown pass to Quian Williams on fourth down with 1:15 left gave the Bulls the victory over Akron.

Snyder finished the game 23 of 44 for 264 yards and three TDs with one interception. His 2,765 passing yards this season are second in the Mid-American Conference as he has completed 59.1% of his 423 attempts with 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Williams has a team-best 56 receptions for 643 yards and five scores. He is followed by Justin Marshall with 53 catches for 710 yards and eight touchdowns.

Mike Washington (606) and Ron Cook Jr. (600) have 1,202 rushing yards combined.

Safety Marcus Fuqua was a third-team AP All-America and leads the MAC with seven interceptions. He had two picks in the win over Akron.

Linebacker Shaun Dolac is also having a big season. He has registered 134 tackles – 12.5 for loss – and 4.5 sacks.

Kicker Alex McNulty has set a school record with 21 field goals in 25 attempts.

Buffalo is coming off back-to-back winning bowl appearances, including getting past Marshall 17-10 in the 2020 Camelia Bowl.
