Georgia vs. Tennessee Predictions, Picks & Odds Week 12

We examine whether the Volunteers’ touted rushing attack will be able to get it rolling against the Bulldogs with our Georgia vs. Tennessee prediction based on the best college football odds at our best college football betting sites.

Though the Volunteers' (7-3, 3-3 SEC) rushing attack has compiled gaudy numbers on paper, it hasn’t thrived recently against the top SEC defenses. Tennessee eclipsed 250 rushing yards in two of its last three games but was held to just 83 on the ground last week against the Missouri Tigers.

Expecting Jaylen Wright to dice through a loaded Georgia  Bulldogs(10-0, 7-0 SEC) defensive front could be another exercise in futility.

To accompany our Week 12 predictions, here is our best Georgia vs. Tennessee prediction and our college football picks (odds via our best college football betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Georgia vs. Tennessee prediction

Jaylen Wright Under 52.5 rushing yards (-115 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

While Tennessee has the seventh-ranked rushing offense in the nation on a per-game basis, a deeper dive into the numbers reveals how the Volunteers have padded those stats against lesser defenses while wilting against the more competitive units.

Jaylen Wright has cleared this rushing line in seven of 10 games on the season, but because Tennessee uses multiple running backs, Wright hasn’t garnered beyond 11 carries in any of the last four games. While that workload was sufficient for triple-digit rushing efforts against teams like UConn and Kentucky, Wright was stymied against more efficient defenses like Missouri and Alabama.

This week against Georgia could be another tough task for Wright, as the Bulldogs rank 16th in the nation in run defense, allowing only 105.2 yards per game on the ground. A matchup where the Vols are featured as double-digit underdogs could force them to the air more than they would typically prefer.

That’s how it happened in blowout losses to Missouri and Alabama. Wright totaled just 44 rushing yards across those two games. Outside of a laugher over UTSA, Tennessee’s three losses are the only games that have seen Wright fall short of 100-plus rushing yards this season. With another loss expected on Saturday, it could signal another quiet day for the junior running back.
