Giants vs. Orioles pick: MLB odds, predictions, best bets

The Orioles are a very good baseball team.

I’d argue one of the best in the American League.

But it’s no mystery that there are monster holes in the rotation.

Dean Kremer, Friday’s starting pitcher, comes into the contest with a 6.46 expected ERA and one of the worst batted-ball profiles in the majors.

Meanwhile, the Giants’ Logan Webb is earning his big offseason extension.

He boasts a sub-3.00 ERA and 60 percent ground-ball rate behind one of the league’s better sinkers.

So, I feel pretty good about betting on Webb against Kremer.

Also, the Giants have turned their season around.

After posting an 11-16 record in April, the Giants went 17-12 in May with a +21 run differential.

In fact, the Giants are playing better than the O’s, who went 16-12 record with a +3 run differential in the month.

The San Francisco offense has progressed, grading above average over the past two weeks.

Meanwhile, the bullpen has been impeccable, as the Giants are second in reliever ERA (2.17) and expected FIP (3.36) during the month.

Baltimore can compete in the lineup and bullpen departments, but the O’s don’t have enough advantages to compensate for their vast starting pitching disadvantage.

As a result, I’ll be backing Webb and the Giants with home-field advantage on Friday night.
