Glastonbury tickets about to go on sale, but the odds are you won't get one

Glastonbury 2023 tickets go on sale on Sunday (November 6), but the chances of you being lucky enough to get your hands on one at £335 are slim, according to statisticians at the Online Betting Guide (OLBG).

With Glastonbury coach tickets selling out in 23 minutes when they were released for purchase earlier in the week, general admission tickets are expected to be gobbled up in equally double-quick time. And bods at olbg.com have revealed there is roughly a 7.7 per cent chance you’ll get one… which means you’re over 92 per cent sure not to be one of the lucky ones.

Steve Madgwick, probability and stats expert at OLBG said: “We’ve crunched the numbers and our calculations won’t fill anyone dreaming of getting into Glasto with much hope. According to the maths, there’s a 7.7 per cent chance anyone logging on will be successful in getting the golden ticket.”

Millions of music fans have registered in the ballot to attend Glastonbury Festival next year, but there’s more chance Cristiano Ronaldo signing for Wolves than there is of you being successful in getting your pass to Worthy Farm. And it’s more likely that babies born in 2020 will live to 100 than you are of getting a dream pass to the musical extravaganza.

Also according to the odds, Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens is more likely to become the next James Bond then you pitching your tent in that famous muddy Somerset field during the epic event. And we all know how rubbish the UK are at the Eurovision Song Contest, don’t we?

It’s been 25 years since the UK’s last victory when Katrina and the Waves ruled with Love Shine A Light. But OLBG predict the likelihood of another rare win is more probable than getting some Glasto tickets.

There are also 410,000 people waiting to see if they have been selected for the London Marathon next year. But the odds aren’t favourable for that either.

You’ll have a better chance of seeing PSG megastar Kylian Mbappe at Newcastle before February 3 next year than you would have done tying up your running shoes at the Marathon. And ex-Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is more likely to be London Mayor in 2024.
