Each and every day of the racing year we bring you a bumper NAPS table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.

Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.

  • WELCOME TO PP NEWS: NEW TO US?

So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…

LORD RIDDIFORD has a fine record of 3-4 over C&D and superbly trained to peak for this race for the last two years (soft and good). Back on lower mark than for either of them thanks to a lesser effort in the Dash at Epsom when good to firm ground was too quick for him. This is more competitive than last year but similar to 2021. Has highest draw but very interesting.

All four of THUNDER BLUE’s runs have been on good to firm. Won his novice here and respectable in defeat since then in a pair of Group 2s over 5f and 6f. Weak in the finish over the longer trip at Newmarket last time and his pedigree is primarily about speed, so today’s greater emphasis on stamina reduces his appeal.

COLTRANE acts on good to firm and good to soft. Still progressing at the age of six, having won the Sagaro in great style on reappearance then finished a close second to Courage Mon Ami when favourite for the Ascot Gold Cup. Major contender in this second Goodwood Cup attempt (fourth last year).

STORMY SEA is a half-sister to connections’ Champion Stakes winner Bay Bridge. Impressive at Haydock (1m, good) on seasonal debut. Bit disappointing in Listed grade when last seen but likely still has more to offer and remains of interest. Opening mark of 92 may turn out to be lenient.
