Edgard Zayas returned to the saddle after six months on the sidelines. He had surgery on his left shoulder and a lengthy rehabilitation period. Zays has ridden 1,930 winners since starting his career in South Florida in 2012. He was an Eclipse Award finalist for outstanding apprentice jockey in 2013. His wife Ashley and daughters Lilah and Lillian were the first to greet him.

Edgar Perez rode five winners on the 10-race program at Gulfstream Park Friday. Franklin Gonzalez Jr. won his first U.S. race on Awesome Annmarie. The jockey made his U-turn from Chicago to Gulf Stream this spring and summer.
