Happy Valley and Sha Tin host Season Finale parties as Hong Kong racing comes to a close

It has been a memorable season of thrilling triumphs and historic achievements, a season worth savouring and commemorating.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has planned parties to rock the crowd during the last two race meetings to be held at Happy Valley and Sha Tin on July 12 and 16, respectively, to celebrate a successful season and to thank all racing stakeholders for their support.

These parties are a chance for horse racing enthusiasts to come together and celebrate the highlights of the season, as well as to socialise and enjoy some top-notch entertainment. They are also a chance to recognise the achievements of the season's top performers.

While their punter friends cheer on the stars on the track, those looking for great food and drink and entertainment can join the ultimate summer carnival with top of the pop musical performances and refreshments from the iconic Beer Garden food truck.

The Happy Wednesday Season Finale will begin at Happy Valley with a performance by social media sensation Chris Polanco and his band. Polanco will be performing a selection of his hits as well as Latin favourites, and don’t be surprised if he sneaks in a Canto-pop hit or two.

Revellers can perfect their salsa and samba skills while enjoying the hot Latin hits. It’s bound to work up an appetite and the iconic Beer Garden food truck will be on hand to offer ice cold refreshments as well as themed snacks and a menu of summer favourites including ice lollies, smoothies and other chill treats.

The party dials up a notch at the final race day of the season on July 16 at Sha Tin Racecourse, where Polanco and his band will keep the crowd spinning and dipping. Revellers can also enjoy delectable food and drink from the food truck on the premises while they enjoy the show or catch the action playing out on the track.

At Sha Tin, race fans can also visit the “Champions Challenge Game Zone” underneath Mezza One to take on three challenges and test their knowledge of Hong Kong’s racing champions throughout the years. Participants can win tokens to redeem gifts at the gacha machine.

Those who have often wondered what goes into the tough training of Hong Kong’s jockeys can take part in the “Jockeys’ Challenge” backstage. Virtual and augmented reality eSports facilities offer realistic experiences of the sport and show the hard work put in by the jockeys on their road to the championship.

The jockeys, who have been jostling for top spot all season, will also celebrate the closing of another fine 2022/23 campaign and join the traditional parade out on the track to thank fans for their support. It will be a great opportunity for fans to meet and greet their favourite jockeys.

The 2022/23 race season ends with a bang courtesy of a sensational pyrotechnic display after the racing action concludes. It will be a great chance to meet new friends and reunite with old ones, so make sure you block your calendars for on- and off-track action at these two festive race days at Happy Valley and Sha Tin.
