Harsha Bhogle slammed on Twitter! What happened and why was the Indian commentator criticised?

Indian cricket expert and commentator Harsha Bhogle is getting slammed on Twitter by fans for his Tweet criticising an online article from leading Indian news media.

Harsha Bhogle is one of the veterans in the field of journalism and news media who have over three decades of experience of commentating on international cricket.

But a tweet of his criticisng an article went viral as it did not go down well with a section of Indian cricket fans.

What did Harsha Bhogle tweet?

The experienced commentator, on Tuesday, posted a long tweet from his official handle, where he without taking any names, slammed an online article of a reputed Indian media.

He wrote,

I saw something on the online site of a reputed newspaper today that caused me great anguish. The print edition of the newspaper probably has fairly rigorous procedures, stories would be checked and vetted before going into print. This article would not only be rejected outright but the writer might have a question mark on his/her future. But the online arm, deep into this digital revolution and with probably greater readership, is alarmingly immature, has a very strained relationship with accuracy and the truth and searches for scandal and mischief. Can newspaper owners look upon this post as a plea to ask for maturity in their online editions and a little more responsibility from the people who work there because currently they bring our profession into disrepute and drag the carefully acquired brand value of the print entity down.

Why are fans criticising Harsha Bhogle?

The article that Bhogle slammed on Twitter was written on how a section of fans expressed their displeasure after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were rested for the first two ODIs against Australia.

The article focused on how a section of fans blamed BCCI for denying Virat Kohli enough chances in the twilight of his career in order to protect the records of former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

While Bhogle called out the media for being 'immature' and that they lack accuracy, another section of fans were quick to point out the commentator's silence whenever Virat Kohli gets critcised in the news media.

What next for the Indian cricket team?
