He will become someone like Rashid Khan: Suresh Raina predicts bright future for Indian leg-spinner

Rashid Khan

Suresh Raina said Ravi Bishnoi has the potential to become someone like Rashid Khan.

With every new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Indian cricket sees several new talents prove their mettle in the best T20 League in the world. Thanks to the IPL, Indian cricket currently has a strong pool of Indian cricketers and the side can also field two teams simultaneously.

On JioCinema's ‘Next-Gen Superstars,’ several former Indian cricketers were asked to pick the future stars of Indian cricket.

'Mr. IPL' Suresh Raina named Arshdeep Singh as one of his picks before making a big prediction by saying Ravi Bishnoi, with the way he releases the ball, could go on to become like Rashid Khan.

“If you see all the big bowlers who have earned their stripes in Test cricket, I think Bishnoi with his character and way of delivering the ball, will become someone like Rashid Khan,” Raina said.

Tilak Verma, who was one of the finds of IPL 2022 after producing a memorable show for the Rohit Sharma-led side, was also one of the most discussed names among experts.

“He’s from Hyderabad. I have seen his development since he was a kid. I am talking about him in U-15 and U-16 cricket and how hard he works. His schedule involves going to the ground at 6 AM and come home at 6 PM. He only takes a 30-45-minute lunch break. He is thoroughly dedicated,” said Pragyan Ojha.

In what was a forgettable IPL campaign for Mumbai Indians last season, Verma emerged as a new hero having scored 303 runs at 36.09 for Rohit Sharma & Co.

Former Indian pacer RP Singh, who was another expert on the show, picked young Mumbai opener Yashasvi Jaiswal as a future star.

“If you look at his batting in the domestic circuit, you can tell there is something different about him. His game-reading sense, his batting technique, or his know-how of how to end a match. The good thing about him is that even if he makes 50, he is looking ahead at his 100,” Singh said.
