History comes alive at the Library

Eddie Price gave a delightful performance as jockey Roscoe Tarleton Goose at the Washington County Public Library on Thursday, August 24. Price presented the life story of the famous jockey that rode a horse facing 91:1 odds to victory in the 1913 Kentucky Derby. Price, dressed in jockey silks told the story as Goose reminiscing on his life.

The program was part of the Kentucky Chautauqua program of Kentucky Humanities. Price, a retired high school history teacher, is from Hawesville and has family in the Bloomfield area. Price also worked as a part-time instructor at Owensboro Community and Technical College and is the author of the award-winning historical fiction novel “Widder’s Landing” along with several addition books including a series of children’s books. He is a member of the Kentucky Humanities Speakers Bureau and speaks or performs regularly around the state.
