Two of the worst teams in basketball are set to play on Wednesday night, how exciting! Well, for us bettors, it’s just another opportunity to cash in and make a valuable bet.

Both the Hornets and Rockets have the two worst records in the NBA, helpless on both ends as they figure out their long term plans around young guards that were recent top five picks in the NBA Draft. Charlotte enters as a road favorite, is that warranted?

I can’t trust the Hornets to be road favorites against any team in the league with (expected) clean injury reports.

Charlotte is 11-34 on the year and bottom five in both offensive and defensive rating. While the team is actually playing at a top 10 offensive level over the last two weeks, scoring nearly 118 points per 100 possessions per Cleaning the Glass, their defense is the second worst.

The Rockets are bottom of the league, including record while scoring the fewest points per 100 possessions. They are only ahead of the San Antonio Spurs in terms of net rating.

However, I can’t trust the Hornets to beat any team on the road. It’s an NBA game, and with the emergence of the three-point shot, any team can get going.

This is purely a numbers play on the Rockets as home underdogs.
