Horse racing predictions: Pontefract, Southwell and Exeter

There are three Flat-racing meetings scheduled across Britain on Tuesday. Pontefract, Southwell and Exeter are the venues. John and Thady Gosden are aiming to win the feature prize at Pontonfractor for the second year on the trot.

Enda McElhinney's horse racing predictions for Tuesday are below. Pontefract, Southwell and Exeter are the favourites.

John and Thady Gosden landed the feature on Pontefract’s first day of term last season with Waldkonig. They are taken to repeat the feat now with Peter The Great. Peter the Great ran four times last year, twice at Newmarket over 1m/1m 2f on good-to-firm/good- to-soft ground.

Peter The Great (Pontefract, 2.40) is the selection with Sky Bet.

Both Coastguard Station and Daniel Deronda finished second in their respective races last time out. Amy Murphy's charge shaped better in a first-time tongue-tie over course and distance four weeks ago. Henry Oliver's ex-Irish son of Dylan Thomas had a real set-to with Rewired at Fakenham. Richard Newland's runner got away from the final flight better and put his pedigree to good use in the short run to the line to score by a half-length. Coast Guard Station is taken to notch a success on the third start for trainer.

Horse racing predictions: Pontefract, Southwell and Exeter. Selection: Coastguard Station (Southwell, 3.25) @ SP with Sky Bet.

Raffles Gitane is a mare trained by Harry Whittington. She was fourth on her debut at Sedgefield in October and she had a disappointing Boxing Day run at Huntingdon. Exeter is predicted to win the Novices’ Handicap Chase.

Raffles Gitane (Exeter) is the selection for Pontefract, Southwell and Exeter.
