The horse that has attracted the most support in the Naps competition across all of today's fixtures is BERKSHIRE ROCCO for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy in the Marathon at Newcastle. He last won a race back in January at Southwell and since then ran with credit, albeit no match for the winner, over a trip similar to this at Kempton. In the end he gave a useful rival too much rope up front and didn't have the necessary speed to reel him in, but today's test should be stiffer and a truer run race so he has a favourite's chance.

Before being geded he had some useful form in high quality races, but suffered the cruellest cut after a wretched run in the 2021 Long Distance Cup. Since then he has established himself as a top notch all-weather stayer and he can claim this big prize for the four Naps entrants who are keeping the faith with him. The Punt of the Racing Post is in second on the leaderboard and is siding with Murphy's mount here, along with three other tipsters.

Later on in the afternoon at Newcastle, in the Fillies and Mares, MANAAFITH looks a worthy even money favourite and should take a world of beating. Roger Varian has typically handled this filly tenderly and in her career she may have run in some weaker races but her win-rate makes her worthy of respect. Additionally, her win last time out at Lingfield in a Listed event over 7 furlongs was achieved with minimal fuss and indicated there is plenty more to come from her in higher class contests.

Third in the Naps table right now is The Sunday Express and they are siding with Varian's filly as the best bet on the card and of the day, along with a duo of other entrants in the competition. Queen Aminatu is a very solid rival and should give her running, but the suspicion is Manaafith is destined for higher realms than this and she can claim this prize for favourite backers.

The Naps table has seen plenty of movement of late and it is certainly tight at the top, but a familiar name is riding high once more in Expert Eye. The mysterious entrant is just pennies clear of second and has today sided with one at Lingfield, veering away from AW Champs Day in the hope of finding a winner. Their pick is the aptly named Expert Agent in the 17:00 contest, who is 5/2 at the time of publication and could extend the leader's advantage.

For this article though we will keep our focus on Tyneside and the all-weather championships, with another runner that has attracted three Nap votes in the 13:50 in SHAQUILLE. Julie Camacho has opted to re-apply the hood to this promising but buzzy colt and that could prove key in a race that promises to be fast and furious, the three-year-old Championship over 6 furlongs. Coming here off a 125 day break, Shaquille has the profile of one that could have massively improved since we last saw him, and he was decent enough before the break!

He won three of his four races prior to the sabbatical and his last run when winning a hot looking contest at Wolverhampton over this trip was arguably a career best. He has plenty of ticks in the box, being a distance, surface and class winner, so it is no surprise to see him popular in the Naps table today.
