Houston Astros: Why his return is worth up to $16 million
Michael Brantley is returning to the Houston Astros on a one-year, incentive-laden contract for the 2023 season. The 35-years-old outfielder will make a $12 million base salary next season and an additional $4 million if he takes 525 plate appearances in 2022. Branley will not start swinging a bat or hitting until mid-January. He had a similar shoulder surgery in August 2016 while with Cleveland. He declined to draw comparisons between the two rehabs. he hasn't taken more than 508 plate appearance in either of his past two 162-game seasons.
